FAQ

Was the Multicultural Youth Centre located in Victoriaville Mall before?
Yes. For 15 years we were inside the Mall. We moved out to 511 E Victoria Avenue, just outside Victoriaville Mall (corner of Victoria and Brodie Street in 2006.

Who runs the Multicultural Youth Centre?
Members of the Regional Multicultural Youth Council (RMYC) run the Youth Centre. Children and youth from any cultural and racial backgrounds can be members of the Youth Council, hold executive positions and sit on committees that help to plan and organize activities at the Centre.

Since members of the RMYC are minors (under-age to sign legal documents), the Multicultural Association of Northwestern Ontario (MANWO) serves as the incorporated parent organization and legal guardian. The RMYC Presidents sits on the MANWO board, and works with the MANWO Executive Director--who also serves as Youth Advisor. This ensures that the youth are have a voice, are safe, and run their own programs, while being legally protected for their parents' peace of mind.

How old do you have to be to join the Regional Multicultural Youth Council (RMYC)?
Any Children and Youth 7 to 20 years old can be members of the Youth Council. Those in high school prepared to serve as positive role models can hold executive positions. Older members can serve as advisors, supervisors, mentors, tutors, etc.

How much does it cost to join the RMYC?
There are no membership fees, and most programs and services are free! But there may be some costs to participate in special activities.

How can I join the RMYC, or get involved in the activities?
