Was the Multicultural Youth Centre located in Victoriaville Mall before?
Yes. For 15 years we were inside the Mall. We moved out to 511 E Victoria Avenue, just outside Victoriaville Mall (corner of Victoria and Brodie Street in 2006.

How much does it cost to join the RMYC?
There are no membership fees, and most programs and services are free! But there may be some costs to participate in special activities.

About Us

The Council was formed as a follow-up to the special activities organized by the Multicultural Association of Northwestern Ontario (MANWO) in 1985 to mark the International Youth Year. The Council's success can be attributed to a youth-to-youth approach to reach out to peers. Youths from all backgrounds make up the Council's board of directors who run the Council's affairs.

RMYC


The Regional Multicultural Youth Council (RMYC) has provided a voice for youth in Thunder Bay and small isolated communities across Northwestern Ontario for about 25 years.
The Council was formed by a group of youths who participated in activities organized by the Multicultural Association of Northwestern Ontario (MANWO) to celebrate the United Nations International Youth Year in 1985.

MANWO


The Multicultural Association of Northwestern Ontario (MANWO) is a regional umbrella organization for multicultural groups and ethnocultural communities in Northwestern Ontario.
The idea of forming MANWO came from recommendations by delegates at the first Northwestern Ontario Regional Multicultural Conference held in Thunder Bay in February, 1979.

Youth Centre


The Multicultural Youth Centre (MYC) was established in 1992 to serve as the Regional Multicultural Youth Council’s head office. After ten years in Victoriaville Mall, the Youth Centre was forced to move from because we lost our funding from bingo revenues after the Thunder Bay Casino opened downtown. The Multicultural Youth Centre provides a variety of services and resource materials for children and youth.
