Skandia House

Skandia House

Location uncertain, can anybody help? Please send info to barr@swedesincanada.ca .

Wherever Swedes settled they usually built a meeting place, such as a church or a school, often in cooperation with other Scandinavians. But the distinctive building pictured above, Skandia House, looks more like a hall or a hotel. The length of the women's dresses suggest the 1890s, and the building's size indicates that it was a well known landmark. But where?
