Welcome to Canadian Clay Arts dot Ca, opened on March 21, 2011 and dedicated to Monika Hohnen and all the Crafts people in Thunder Bay Ontario and especially the Thunder Country Ceramic Group.
This is a typical Canadian Arts Site that has an order desk through Lakeshore Variety at the address linked below, real people to communicate with, a history section of local crafts people in Thunder Country Ceramics Association and a weekly update of current ceramic art through Moni’s and Grampa’s pages. We don’t have any fancy shopping carts or catalogues but can answer any questions by email using the link above or phone us using the numbers listed below. Update: We do have a catalog of sorts at here and you may communicate with us about availability of a specific piece but our main purpose here is to educate in mold making and figure design process, and to produce an art oriented web site.

Moni’s Commercial Stock
If you have been in the Ceramic’s business for any length of time you will have noticed that many of the old shops have closed since the advent of the computer and it seems that people are done with the knick knacks but we just keep plodding on for the love of the sport. Monika and many of our Friends in the business have a great number of molds available to us, and in particular; most of the International Santa’s, a wide variety of Loon and Bird molds, many Garden Gnomes and masses of Christmas Decorations.
The Human Form Figures
Much of the work on the Grampa’s site is available but it is largely created for the Art site and the resulting collectors gallery. The figures are all ’Free-Arm & Free-Leg’ style and very delicate, perhaps even too delicate to ship and this is especially true of the Bonsai Trees and the multi-figure art pieces. Some of the single figures ship well and are available at about three times the cost of commercial pieces of the same size because of the difficult cleaning procedures required. At this point in time my only concern is finishing the pieces that were started years ago and replacing the molds lost in a fire in the 90’s. Greenware is currently sold locally in limited quantities.
