I can write balanced chemical equations for oxidation-reduction reactions using the oxidation number method (in neutral and acidic solutions).


Work

1. Watch this video lesson (8 min) and take notes. Here are the annotated slides for the video.

2. For a second example, see Sample Problem 2 on pages 610-611 in section 9.2 of the textbook.

3. Do question 3 on page 613.

4. Check your answers and review as necessary.

5. Lesson 4 will extent the oxidation number method to include basic solutions (there is no quiz for lesson 3).
