A Cable Splicer's workplace.

This is the Central Office "end" of a Cable Splicer's work. The termination of large cables to lightning protection before it connects to the telecom switchgear.

The Central Office cables are spliced to the underground cables in a "cable vault".

Sometimes an underground cable will get damaged and we dig up the street to repair

Thats a 1200 pair cable opened up and drying out.

As the large cables split into smaller ones, some go directly into buildings, some go to buried pedistal "boxes" in backyards, and some go to aerial distribution terminals, such as this one. This is the other "end" of the Cable Splicer's workplace.
