In 2004 Rusty began recording the CD XLR8 with the intention that it would be included in a solo art exhibition. The original concept was to record sounds in a variety of environments and landscapes throughout Thunder Bay. Short of funding, the final CD only included three small simulated soundscapes interspersed between 4 song tracks. Most of the music is based on accelerando structure with tempos that accelerate in speed.
Introcelerate
This track is an early attempt using accelerando structure - increasing in speed and energy throughout the song. Its a kind of rebel punk song about communication media "...maybe something Noam Chomsky would sing if he was a punk rocker."
Lately Rusty has been experimenting with reversed recording tracks, adding overdubbed instruments and vocal tracks to "discover" new melodies and lyrics within the reversed recordings. A CD of these new tracks is slated for completion in the summer of 2008.
