Dave reported that at the November Meeting we will have a representative from the Chamber of Commerce in attendance to give us a talk and answer any questions that we may have concerning the Chamber.

Bob reported on the Mid Term Meeting held in Duluth. All went well and that we will review it for l999.

Steve Herchak reported on the last OTAB Meeting of Sept. 16. They had a representative from CARS Council speak to them. Discussion also centered around a fee that Technicians may have to pay in the future ranging from approximately $1,000.00 to $2,500.00 to take the Apprenticeship Course. It was also stated that the Industry is giving the Government trouble over emission testing. The present plan is very costly and not set up properly between testing places and repair outlets. The next OTAB Meeting will be held in December.

Garry Felbel reported that he is trying to get in touch with Jerry Wark and Alloy Auto to become Members.

Bob reported that Rosslyn Auto is wanting to join our Association. A vote took place and they were accepted as a new Member. Bill Markall reported that he has been in contact with Don Axent and Speedy. They are wanting more information. Bob reported that we try to get new members and that at each meeting we propose a business and then follow it up.

Discussion took place for the Convention, and the Agenda was drawn up.

Discussion took place on our Annual Christmas Party set for Dec.5th at the DaVinci Centre. It was agreed that we ask the speakers from the Convention as guests. Mike is making arrangements for bar ticket sellers.
There was information from Collision Industry Action Group (C.I.A.G.). Dave is to review it, then pass it on to Bill Markall & Tom Pelletier. This group would like a representative from our Association to sit on their Board to represent Northwestern Ontario. They are to look into covering the cost of a person to travel to Eastern Ontario for meetings.

A notice was received from the College concerning the Award Programme for 1997/98. Steve Herchak was appointed to sit on the Board and represent our Association. It was decided that this year we purchase a Gift Certificate from BESTBUY AUTO PARTS. Dave reported on the dinner meeting that he attended at the College as our representative.

Under new business there are a number of auto shops that are prospective members. Mike Daniar is to follow up on them.

Our guest speaker from the Chamber of Commerce was unable to attend because of personal circumstances but will attend a future Meeting.

Our Annual Meeting was discussed. Everybody was satisfied. The speakers were good. Must try to get more people out.

Bill Markall reported that he had been talking to Al Hope and John Rogers. They wondered if we had ever considered putting money into bursaries to further the education of students into our trade. John Rogers said that if we were thinking along these lines a Foundation would be a better way of doing this. After some discussion it was put off to a later date.

The Con College Awards celebration was discussed. Steve Herchak is to make the presentation. A discussion took place as to whether or not this is a worth while endeavour. Steve Herchak is to be asked to get information for our next Meeting.

Under Insurance, a letter was received from our Agent, J. Colosimo, regarding out of country Insurance. The program is improved at no extra cost. LTD Insurance was discussed. Rates were provided which seemed pretty good. Bill Markall and Garry Felbel were to compare these rates to other programs.

Dave Jones spoke on Liability Insurance. He is to get more information for the next Meeting on rates.

Dave Jones reported on the C.I.A.G. which is Collision Industry Action Group, who they are and what they are doing. Dave is to put information together and we will send it out to the different Body Shops as this pertains to them.
*Under Memberships it was moved by Dave Jones and seconded by Dwayne Campbell that we accept as new Members Intercity Fleet Auto Service & Auto-One Car Care Centre. Other possible Members were discussed. Garry Felbel was to follow up on two possible Members. Bob also has two possible Members to contact.
*Under correspondence Dave Jones read two letters from Confederation College (Partnership 2000) and (Art Exhibition) (CIAG).
*Under general discussion we talked about the Christmas Social - having guests; namely the speakers from our Annual Meeting. Dave is to look into a prize that we raffle off each year.
*Mike Daniar spoke on the yearly stickers that we attach to the Plaques, that for the year 2000 that we try to get a special tag - something different that year only. This to be looked into.
*Members can attend any Directors meetings. These are held second Thursday of each month. If you would like to attend any meetings, please get in touch with your Director.

Con College Award Programme was discussed. Bob reported that there wasn't anybody to represent us at this years presentation due to unfortunate circumstances.
*Dave reported on the issue of Liability Insurance. Dave said that an audited Financial Statement was needed in order to get the insurance to cover the Directors in case of a law suit. After some discussion Dave is to look after this. Bob stated that the alcohol related portion which is a different policy is in place that will cover all events for a 1 year period. There is a limit on the coverage.
*Dave reported on both the CIAG and CISCO Programmes. Dave explained as to what they are and the objectives of the programmes.
*Steve Herchak reported on the OTAB. The Meeting was on Dec. 3/98 in Toronto. Some of the topics that were discussed were air brakes and clean air issue. It seems that the exam for the clean air issue had a failure rate of approximately 95%. This was of great concern and is to be reviewed. The group toured Centennial College - Steve was quite impressed. The next Meeting will be in February.
*Membership was discussed. We are to continually try to get new Members. Bob is in contact with 2 possible Members. At this time it was moved by Dave Jones and seconded by Dwayne Campbell that we accept Rossi's Esso Auto Service as a new Member.
*Bob reported that our Travel Agent has been in touch with us about our out of town trip which takes place in Sept. It seems that Fortune Bay will give us a good rate. This is being looked into.
Under Advertising Mike Daniar reported that the News Chronicle runs an ad "Business Directory". Mike thought that this might be interesting to the Association. He is to get more information for the next Meeting.
*Under correspondence Dave read letters from the Ont. Gov't. - a Press Release; Confederation College Programme 2000, which included a questionnaire that Dave is to complete; CIAG Group; CISCO Group; Children's Wish Foundation thanking us for a donation; Chamber of Commerce (Career Festival Night).- this was referred to Steve Herchak.
*The Christmas Party was discussed. There were complaints about the taxi programme. People had to wait too long for cabs. There was an increase in the number of tickets sold; bar sales; raffle. The programme that Dave spearheaded went very well. Discussion took place on how we might improve next year.
*Dave reported that at our next Meeting in January there will be a representative from the Chamber of Commerce.
