SCOUTS-CANADA |
SIGN A WAIVER?Scouts Canada does NOT require it’s members (or their parents) to waive their rights to participate in approved Scouting activities. Parents who waive the rights of their child are not doing so at the request of Scouts Canada and are NOT protected by Scouts Canada Insurance.
Scouters are NOT authorized to sign waivers on behalf of Scouts Canada. A member or individual that signs a waiver for a Scouting activity is NOT protected by Scouts Canada insurance, therefore is accepting personal responsibility. When negotiating the use of services of an activity provider (ie., a climbing wall), they may request a Waiver. Be reminded waivers must NOT be signed. Contact the Scouts Canada, Northern Ontario Councils office to review the request to ensure only the responsibility that rightfully belongs to Scouts Canada is assumed. CAMPING & OUTDOOR ACTIVITY GUIDEApproved Scouting activities are events that have been approved by Group Committees, utilizing proper forms from the Camping/Outdoor Activity Guide. Locally made forms are NOT permitted and will void Scouts Canada insurance for approved activities.
Upon completion of an Activity/Event/CAMPS, the forms must be forwarded to the Thunder Bay Areas (NOC) office, please ensure forms are appropriately signed. For convenience forms can be forwarded to the NOC office quarterly. Forms can be found in CAMPING & OUTDOOR ACTIVITY GUIDE (March 2000), on the Thunder Bay Area Website (my.tbaytel.net/scouts), Scouts Canada Website (www.scouts.ca) or from the Council Office. |
