Insurance and signing Waivers

SIGN A WAIVER?

Scouts Canada does NOT require it’s members (or their parents) to waive their rights to participate in approved Scouting activities. Parents who waive the rights of their child are not doing so at the request of Scouts Canada and are NOT protected by Scouts Canada Insurance.

Scouters are NOT authorized to sign waivers on behalf of Scouts Canada. A member or individual that signs a waiver for a Scouting activity is NOT protected by Scouts Canada insurance, therefore is accepting personal responsibility.

When negotiating the use of services of an activity provider (ie., a climbing wall), they may request a Waiver. Be reminded waivers must NOT be signed. Contact the Scouts Canada, Northern Ontario Councils office to review the request to ensure only the responsibility that rightfully belongs to Scouts Canada is assumed.
