  • It was suggested that with so many participants taking Woodbadge Part II, they could be given an activity to organize or help out with as part of the training.

General Discussions:

Tom asked why, if we have so many Beavers are they not moving onto Cubs?

Personal Opinions of those present are:

  • Not enough linking between the beaver and cub sections
  • Ages of Beavers should be 4 to 6 as by the time they hit 3rd year they are bored.
  •  Groups not using Keeo’s
  • Groups not running an interesting 3 level program

In planning events for youth, it was mentioned that the same people attend the Area Meetings each month, with all the new younger leaders out there, where are they?

All present agreed we would like to meet them, and see them get involved.

  • It was decided to organize a “VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION NIGHT”, for January 26th, 2008, Roberta to see if we can get Vickers Heights Community Center.
  • Marg offered to donate a door prize
  • Volunteers must be leaders working in Scouting’s 5 Sections
  • Where do we get the funds to put this event on?
  • Susan would like to see a financial float kept in the Thunder Bay Area for events such as this one.
  • Invitations need to be sent out

More planning to be done at Area Meeting on this event.

Roberta would also like to see an appreciation plaque done up for Vickers Heights Community Center for all they have done for Scouting. Roberta will do one up.
