Minutes March 21/07
Present were Bill Taylor, John Mayo, Joy Cummings, Darlene Armstrong, Roberta Wolfe, Laurie Blackwell, Susan McCutcheon, Marg McWhirter.
Susan was at Oliver Road School to collect any of the Board's surplus equipment that would be useful at Grey Wolf Scout Camp. She chose chairs, a black- board, shelves, etc.
The 1st Thunder Bay group has some supplies from their group that is no longer operating
Rapid Racers' Rally The name for the former Kub Kar/ 18 Wheeler Rally may be kept for next year. Individual trophies will again be made for each Cub. The Chronicle-Journal and local TV provided good coverage. Also a full page in the newspaper highlighted Scouting on the Kid's Page.
Voyageur Winter Carnival and Winter Games One new Scout joined as a result of recruitment. Marg said the display was worthwhile to get our name out in the public eye. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts enjoyed it but would like to do something different next year. Hot chocolate provided for all would have been appreciated, but against Fort rules.
PRO Kids Event April 14 from 10 -4 at the CLE Coliseum. We will man a booth. Suggestions included a velcro ball throw, scavenger hunt, and a display of badges.
Children's Festival Because Rock The Fort isn't happening this year, we may attend this instead although it runs for 3 days. Marg will look into it.
Border Cats Baseball Game John said his group enjoyed it last year. Susan said she will look into it.
There was a suggestion of a day event for the public to see what we do.
Hymer's Fall Fair Labour Day weekend. Roberta and Joy will look into this. Suggestions included crafts, a rope bridge, cooking bannock.
Westfort Street Fair ? August 25
Pancake Breakfast held March 25 at McIntyre Rec. Centre for the travel group.
Bike Rodeo volunteers are needed to organize.
Scout Trees May 12. 50% of the $ goes to the groups.
Mogli Award deadline is May 1st
Honours and Awards Roberta is looking for suggestions for Dedicated Service Awards (10 years of service) and Spence Award (helping the Scouting Community.)Nominations were received for Ontario Volunteer Awards. The Chief Scout and Queen's Venturer awards will be presented at fall camp to be held the week of Sept.22 It was suggested that more be budgetted for medals during the Centennial year.
Fall Camp will be an all section camp.
