       Thunder Bay Area Scout Meeting - January 17/07

Attendance: Marg McWhirter 17th Westminster, Laurie Blackwell 11th, Wim Smits16th Fort William, John Mayo 11th   Fort William, Wm. Taylor D.S.T., Enrico Pucci

               17th Westminster, Roberta Wolfe Honours and Awards, Susan McCutcheon A.C., Joy Cummings.

                Correspondence:

 1)  Letter received from Northern Tier Scout Camp re-job postings for this summer.

 2) Letter from United Kingdom Scout group looking for pen pals.

                Old Business:

           

                    1)  Kub Kars/ 18 Wheelers: Susan will inquire about popcorn as

                                    door prizes for Kub Kars.  Other door prizes are needed.

               

                New Business:

                2) Gary Waycik will meet with Service Team at Vickers Heights Community Centre Jan 24.

                3) Beavers will have badge swap, skate at Vickers Heights Jan. 23.

                4) Popcorn invoices were distributed to groups present.

  

                  5) Travel Group:  Financial information has been distributed to people

traveling as per Gary W's instructions.  Traveling Scouts will have a booth in Intercity April 7&8 and at Canadian Tire March 3&4 to sell popcorn.  Discussion took place re- a sunrise service at spring camp or Aug. 1st in recognition of 100 years of Scouting.

                6) Old Fort William:  The Fort has asked Scouts to help run the children's

program at the Voyageur Winter Carnival Feb. 24 & 25. This event will include Beaver and Cub Winter Games and Scouts' Camp Chilly. Activities include:

                   snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tug-of-war, etc.

Scouts can earn volunteer hours.  Scouts will have an opportunity to participate in orienteering and to build quinzies.

Discussion will take place with The Fort re-the price for participants and families.            

                     Leader help will be needed in shifts that weekend.
