Kim commented that there may be an upswing in membership.

Service Team:

There are positions available for leaders to become               active with the service teams. In previous years, the Beaver service team has been very active organizing many all-section events.

Positions were re-distributed as follows:

            Quarter Master- Bill Taylor

Honours & Awards - Roberta Wolfe

            Training - Joy Cummings

Official photographer and web-site manager - Randy Creighton

Public Relations - Marg McWhirter & Kelly Hilton

Darlene Armstrong - to be announced

Jocelyn Matson - to be announced

Deputy Council Commissioner (DCC)- Tom Abthorpe

Council Commissioner is Ralph Jenkins from Timmins.

The existing service team will continue to organize some special events. Former leaders will be asked to help.

Suggestions of names would be appreciated. A list of events was circulated and, although many events now have an organizer, some, such as Trees for Canada and Apple Day do not.

Susan would appreciate volunteers.

Suggestions for help were made, such as mentoring, recruiting and recording how specific events are organized.

Big Brown's Birthday Party will be held Nov.6th.

Grey Wolf Camp Committee is looking for volunteers.

City - wide registration is Sept. 8.

Registration packages were sent out but the pre-filled in forms for group committee member are the old forms and need to be redone.

The Scout Shop will be present.

Correspondence: TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) wish to finance some tree planting to offset the carbon pollution caused by their up-coming conference.

Murillo Fall Fair:  7-8 youth were recruited at this event.

There was positive feedback about Scouts being seen in the community.

Hymer's Fall Fair:  Len said that their group used to camp out at the fair overnight, with good response from the public.

The 16th went to St. Elizabeth School in June to participate in Family Fun Day. About 350 film canister first aid kits were made.

Ogden St. School has a yearly block party, which could be a good P.R. activity.

Fall Camp:  Beavers will attend for the day. Cubs will stay overnight. Scouts are welcome. Each group is expected to organize an activity.

Apple Day: B.C. Mac apples are preferred.

Training: Wood Badge II will be held Oct. 19, 20, 21 + times in May + correspondence. Ten people are committed to attend. Contact Joy for info.

Meetings:  The 3rd Wednesday of the month will be the regular meeting time. Next meeting is Sept. 19, then Oct. 10th, Nov. 21st and Dec. 12th.?? All meetings are held at 7PM at the Little Dining Room, Lakehead University. There will be            a potluck diner in Dec. Details to follow.

Remembrance Day:  Bill Taylor will organize placement of wreaths at both sides of town.

Awards Presentation:  5 Chief Scout and 1 Queen's Venturer Award and several Centennial Medals plus other awards will be presented at the Superior Court of Justice Sept. 29th. Contact Roberta for details.

Kim will ask Rev. David Silliman to continue as Scout Chaplain.

Bill T. reported that a container is rented for equipment. MNR has donated some of their surplus. Bill is trying to locate all equipment from groups that no longer operate. Joy will provide some names to contact.

Groups need to keep registration forms and permission slips, and records of outings and finances. They should be sent to our Northern Council Office at the end of each year.

          Meeting adjourned.
