Thunder Bay, on Lake Superior, is where Canada's east and west meet. Located almost exactly at the centre of the country, 3,200 Km (2,000 mi) from the sea, Thunder Bay is "Mile Zero" of the St. Laurence Seaway. It is the western terminus of the ocean going freighters that travel the St. Lawrence Seaway to carry grain, potash and coal from the Canadian west. It has the world's biggest grain handling facility and is the third largest port in Canada. Thunder Bay International Airport, (YQT) is Canada's 3rd busiest Airport, moving over 456 thousand passengers and 90,800 aircraft annually. Thunder Bay's industries include pulp and paper, shipping, tourism, and the manufacture of subway cars and bi-level railway coaches. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, lakes, waterfalls and canyons, Thunder Bay is an outdoor enthusiast's dream.
