SIMSAR November, 2005
|
On November 14, 2005 a simulated Search and Rescue exercise (SIMSAR) was conducted in the area around Edmundston Lake (about 40nm north of the city). Navigator, Dayna Trush laid out a "creeping line ahead" search pattern to be flown at 1000-feet above ground. Spotter, Monica Budiselic, loaded survival gear and communications equipment in the aircraft while pilot, Peter Huneau did pre-flight checks. With paperwork completed, the trio took off around 10:30 am local time with good visibility and a broken ceiling of 3000-feet. The one hour and thirty minute exercise was flown according to plan and the search object was located. The navigator was then tasked with a surprise diversion to Pass Lake. The aircraft was successfully diverted towards Pass Lake and then returned to base.
