A Canadian Hero

Shown above is John Paterson in his Spitfire during Normandy combat operations in 1944.
John Paterson, a native of Thunder Bay Ontario, was the generous donor of the Paterson Hanger to NOASARA. Mr. Paterson had a long and illustrious career in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Mr. Paterson is also recognized for donating his Spitfire to the Canadian Aviation Museum. His son, Alexander Paterson, recently discovered the above picture of his father during combat operations in Normandy in late 1944. In the book Angels Eight - Normandy Air War Diary, Alex found two combat reports from Mr. Paterson. In the combat reports, Mr. Paterson describes two combat situations in that he shoots down three Me 109s.
