Local Air Cadets get intro to CASARA
On November 27, 2004, a number of local Air Cadets received some
valuable introductions to the world of Search and Rescue. The cadets were
treated to:
1) An introduction to CASARA by Jason Hughes
2) An introduction to spotting by Jason Hamer
3) An introduction to piloting by Clark Bloomberg
4) An introduction to navigating by Jason Hughes and
5) An introduction to electronic searches followed by a practical session
outside the hanger by Chris Chadwick, Jason Hughes, Jason Hamer and Clark
Bloomberg.
The unit provided the cadets and staff with pizza and pop for lunch.
The cadets gained a lot of valuable knowledge about search and rescue and
perhaps will become CASARA members in the future. Above all, they learned how
difficult Search and Rescue can be and how to increase their chances of being
found if they find themselves in a SAR situation.
I would like to thank everyone that helped out. Jay Minor came to the hanger early to clean up and needs to be thanked. Earl Lafferty needs to be thanked for developing the program and sharing its success with us.
Jason Hughes, NOASARA Member.
