Mr. Walther took GRK Fasteners from a small startup company (1990) to a company with $30M in annual sales. GRK sells patented, high end fasteners to discerning builders across the planet. I was the first and only I.T. Director at GRK Fasteners - reporting to members of the Walther family, and I was given freedom to work with customers, suppliers, government officials, auditors and the general public to collaboratively build corporate data, create business processes and leading edge web-based software to improve customer service, reduce operating costs, comply with the demands of an international business and deal with the explosive growth of the company. I.T. was certainly one of the critical elements that contributed to the success that is GRK Fasteners.

I have done contract work for the Nipissing District Developmental Screen® (ndds) for many years, reporting to Mrs. McGoey. ndds® is a non-profit group responsible for creating / maintaining and distributing developmental check lists (the defacto standard!) in a variety of languages to help parents and health care providers assess a child's development at each age (development milestone). [Look for the poster in your doctor's office...] Most ndds projects start with the description of the desired deliverable from some combination of ndds Board members, ndds partner (funding) organizations and consultants (including me). Semi-formal proposal documents are created, and project plans follow. Most projects involve co-ordinating the work of several individuals / groups - all with different interests and skill sets (e.g., graphic artists, language translators, e-commerce specialists, web development companies, government officials, health care providers, etc.). Mrs. McGoey can speak to my ability to think creatively, present ideas, write proposals, create project plans, lead technical projects, motivate others and bring I.T. based projects to completion on-time and on-budget.

I reported to Mr. Jones at the Lakehead Board and the College (except for a time when I reported to the President). Mr. Jones can speak to my technical skills, forward-looking nature, abilities, knowledge and effectiveness as a change agent in a complex organization. Under Mr. Jones sponsorship and guidance, I was able to take on large, critical projects (some with unmoveable timelines) working through significant numbers of people in various departments / schools. With Mr. Jones as an early mentor, I learned a great deal about leadership, perserverance, diplomacy and effectiveness. I continue to hone and practice these skills in all of my undertakings.
