Over The Bridge

If tears could build a stairway
And memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again.

Ch Galacia's Keela-Ka
"Keela"
May 30, 1980 - April 9, 1992

Our foundation bitch, Keela was the Queen of all Queens.  She had an opinion about everything and didn't hesitate to express her displeasure ....
even after all these years since she crossed over the bridge, we still miss her.

Ch Keetukka's Kyana
"Annie"
                       December 4, 1982 - January 3, 1997

Annie took a Group 1st at nine years old (pictured here), a Group 2nd at 10 years old, many breed wins at 11, & Best in Veteran Sweeps at aged 12 - all while being handled by her friend, Leslie Snell, Dryden, Ontario.  Annie retired & earned a new title "BDE" (bed dog excellent) & ran the household with the same enthusiasm that she used to run the kennel. Annie is gone now, but never forgotten as she has many descendents keeping her memory alive.

Ch Galacia's Taboo
"Tabu"
  April 12, 1985 - November 3, 1997

Tabu came to live at Keetukka at 9 years of age.  Rather than be a total "couch potatoe", he became a show dog long enough to complete his Championship at aged 10 as shown in the picture.  Always a kind & gentle dog, he is missed.

Ch Keetukka's Kaministiqua, S.D.
"Tika"
January 4, 1991 - May 22, 1998

Tika, our beautiful white bitch who only wanted to please whether in the show ring, or in a sled dog race crossed over the bridge much too soon.  Her sudden death at age 7....just as she was entering the prime of her life left a huge hole in all our hearts.

Ch. Galacia's Urakis
"Urak"
June 7, 1985 - July 19, 2000
Shown here at age 15, Urak crossed over the Rainbow Bridge three months later.
Urak's influence in our breeding program was through his daughter, Keetukka's Kontessa, and his son, Multi BIS and BISS Ch. Galacia's Te Anau.

Keetukka's Kontessa
"Tessa"
December 12, 1986 - July 14, 2000

Never a show dog, Tessa was a powerful and eager worker.
During the summer months, she spent her time at camp...boat rides
and fishing were her favorite pastimes.  A wonderful brood bitch,
Tessa passed so many of her attributes onto her kids.

Ch. Galacia's Mufaussa of Keetukka
"Mu"
January 5, 1996- February 17, 2001

Mu died way too young from a brain injury...but not before he produced two litters and his offspring have played a major role in the breeding program of Keetukka and our sister kennels.

Keetukka's Andromeda
"Eadi"
May 14, 1989 - September 6, 2001

Eadi hated the show ring....and much preferred motherhood and recreational sledding.
She had a soft and loving personality, and never lost her love for play.

Keetukka's Lycera, S.D.
"Lacey"

May 5, 1992 - May 27, 2003

Lacey waited until she was 8 years of age to start her show career after spending time running on our sled team and being a Mom.  Her friend, Justin Young, taught her how to become a show dog like her brother, Bacchus, & sister, Terra.
She seemed to enjoy her new path in life and, made it half way to her championship at age 9
when she took time off to have her last litter.
Lacey is gone now & is leading the team with her brother Bacchus & her sister Terra at the rainbow bridge.

Ch. Keetukka's Blue Mistique S.D.
"Misty"
December 11, 1993 - December 21, 2003

Misty was shown to her Canadian Championship by her friend, Megan Brown.
Misty left us in December 2003 after a brief illness.
This loving and loyal lady is sadly missed but lives on in our memories.

Misty was shown selectively by herself, but she really enjoyed
being shown by Justin Young in brace with her kennel-mate and
friend Ch Wolfseye's Keetukka Storm "Tori".
Here they are winning Best Brace in Show!!  What a day!

Ch. Oakridgelane's Falkdane Achilles
"Achilles"
December 27, 2001 - March 27, 2004
This beautiful young dog was accidentally killed in his second year.
Loved & missed by Elsabe & Conrad Falkson & the rest of the Falkdane family.

Keetukka's Midnight Taladaga
"Nikita"
March 29, 1998 - September 10, 2004

A Siberian owner's worst nightmare is to have an escape from your kennel with tragic results.
Nakita & her 6 month old son, Shango, disappeared on September 10, 2004.
Shango was found 5 days later filled with quills, however his Mother has yet to be found.
Nakita is sadly missed by Brenda & Ian and all who knew her.

Keetukka's Goen Oakridgelane
"Sassy"
January 4, 1991 - July 30, 2004

Sassy spent the last 6 years of her long life living in our bedroom because she did not consider herself a dog.  She even made friends with the cat to avoid being returned to the kennel room.  Who said Siberian aren't smart?

Ch Keetukka's Galacia Arcturus
"Arlo"
May 14, 1989 - June 23, 2005

Arlo was owned by Bridget Hunter in Manitoba.  Born in 1989, Arlo enjoyed the retired life until he passed away just after his 16th birthday.

Keetukka's Blue Phantom, SD
"Bandit"
                      December 11, 1993 - June 9, 2005
Bandit only entered the show ring once in 2000 and won Best of Breed Altered
in the Siberian Husky Club of Canada's National Specialty held in Thunder Bay.
Mostly he loved running in harness, and helping Henry train yearlings.
Bandit was owned & loved by Debi & Henry Csabak.  Sadly, Henry passed away a year after Bandit.
We are comforted knowing that these two best friends are together.

Ch. Galacia's Quest
"Yukon"
December 5, 1993 - May 19, 2005

Yukon passed away just two weeks after winning the Veterans Sweepstakes at the
Amethyst Siberian Husky Specialty Show....as well as Brace, with his good friend, Ch. Wolfseye's Icing On Keetukka.
In August 2003, 10 year old Yukon arrived at Keetukka Kennels to live out his retirement years after running on a team
in Northern Manitoba.
Rather than be a "couch-puppy", Yukon started his show career in style at the tender age of 10 & finished his championship
in 3 weekends of shows!
Here he is with his new best friend, Justin Young after his first win.

Keetukka's Oakridgelane Manitu
"Blaze"

January 4, 1991 - September 13, 2005

Blaze left Keetukka as a 10 week old puppy.  We lost track of him for a number of years, and were reunited 14 years later when we took this photo of him.  It was a heartfelt moment, seeing what a wonderful senior he had become.  Blaze crossed over the Rainbow Bridge a year later.

Keetukka's Chichaku
"Sasha"
January 4, 1991 - June 16, 2006

Shown here at 14 years of age, Sasha was returned to us at age 11 because the owners had better things to do!!!  We had a great 4 years with her before she crossed over the bridge.

All of our dogs at the bridge have a new "foreman" now.  Sasha will be organizing and bossing them around.

Keetukka's Borntorun Apollo
"Spinner"
May 5, 1992 - August 22, 2006

Spinner spent the majority of his life running on a team in the north. Although only shown once, he has had a strong influence in our breeding program.  He was a gentle and loving companion and will be missed by all at Keetukka.

Keetukka's Camelot
"Nick"
October 30, 1993 - December 15, 2006

Nick, lovingly referred to as "Big Puppy", was a great sled dog and loved his groceries. He was a "quiet" gentle, and somewhat aloof  dog and he passed away much as he lived life...quietly.  Have fun up there, Nick, with the others.

Ch. Oakridgelane's Silver Sundance
"Shunuk"
November 3, 1992 - July 8, 2008

Shunuk arrived at Shunico as a small puppy....and within minutes of his arrival, he became "Head of the Household", and for nearly 16 years, was a true "best friend" to Brenda Elliott.
Shunuk first entered the show ring at 8 years of age, and finished his Championship under the guidance of his
first handler, Justin Young.
It was a proud moment when 14 year old Shunuk, handled by Candace Gaudreau, won the Veteran Sweeps (shown above) under
breeder/musher/judge Al Stead.

Keetukka's Locomoko
"Moko"
December 11, 1993 - August 16, 2008

Moko is shown here making her "show" debut at age 12 winning her veteran class at the Siberian Husky Club of Canada National Specialty 2005 under breeder Judge and Iditarod finisher Karen Ramstead.  Moko was loved, owned & handled by Brenda Elliott of Shunico Kennels.
