Shipyard Road
As the city of Port Arthur grew the growth of businesses along the harbour was rapid. To the north, by the Current River, the landscape allowed for the develoment of a drydock and ship building company. Other industries surrounded the shipyard, including a Paper Mill, Grain Elevators, as well as a commercial fishery. Much of the area is now in decline as the grain industry slowly consolidates and shrinks, the harbour fishery has collapsed, and ships are no longer built in Thunder Bay. Their legacies remain however, and there is hope for the future.
