After several series of upgrades/refinements, I’m now happy with the sound system.  I was ultimately looking for good sound at highway speed with the windows down … typical travel mode.  The current setup is as follows:

  Pioneer head unit and CD changer controller. (with remote)

  Six CD changer unit under sink.
  600 Watt 4 channel amplifier for front and rear speakers.

  250 Watt 2 channel amplifier (bridged) to power sub.

Pioneer 4 inch 2 way speakers to replace door speakers.

  Pioneer 6 inch mid-bass drivers and crossovers mounted in lower front doors.

  Pioneer 4x6 2 way speakers to replace rear speakers

  12 inch sub mounted in dynamat (fancy sound deadener) lined closet.
