Here are pictures of what an engine block should not look like. The wear at the top of the pistons are well (twice actually) over the acceptable limit. The ridges give an indication of how bad they are. Additionally, the bores should be smooth, not scratched and rust-ringed. That’s what happens when you leave a block sitting for a period of time. New (very expensive) pistons…they’ve been machined slightly to reduce compression below 10.5:1. A compromise between power and longevity was made. Final performance work was a mildly ported and polished 90 Jetta cylinder head with a 266 degree hydraulic camshaft. Intake and Exhaust are detailed as well.
