William White and Rebecca Thompson
William White (1816 to 189?) a farmer and his wife Rebecca (Thompson) White were both born in Ireland. They came to Canada about 1839 and William purchased one hundred acres of land in King Township, York County, Canada West in 1845. William sold the King Township property in 1862 and moved the family to Simcoe County, Canada West. William and Rebecca had nine children; John, Robert, Thomas, William, Isabella, sarah, James, Rebecca and Elizabeth Ann. Rebecca White died August 26, 1895 in Alliston, Simcoe County, Ontario. John White (born 1838 in Ireland) was living with his parents in Simcoe County in 1871. Robert White (born May 14, 1840 in Canada West) a carpenter married Mary Jane Simpson (born September 16, 1842 in King Township, York County) April 24, 1861 in York County. Robert and Mary Jane had twelve children. Thomas White (born February 27, 1842 in Vaughan Township, York County) a farmer married Anna Maria Street (born 1842 in York County) December 24, 1861 in Simcoe County. Thomas and Anna Maria had six children. William White (born in 1844 in Vaughan Township, York County) a farmer married Catherine Simpson (born in 1846 in King Township, York County). Catherine was a sister to Robert White's wife Mary Jane Simpson. William and Catherine had four children. Isabella White ( born in 1846 King Township, York County) married James Irwin (born about 1837 in Upper Canada) December 23, 1863 in Simcoe County. James and Isabella had four children. Sarah White (born March 24, 1848 in King Township, York County) married Thomas Apperley (born January 25, 1845 in Vaughan Township, York County) November 4, 1868 in Simcoe County. Thomas purchased a lot in the Village of Nicolston, Essa Township, Simcoe County February 1, 1873. Thomas and Sarah had seven children when they decided in 1881 to move west and claim a homestead near Whitewood, Assiniboia District, Northwest Territories. Five more children were born in Whitewood. Sarah died September 5, 1902 and Thomas died August 23, 1926. Thomas and Sarah are buried in the cemetery at Whitewood, Saskatchewan. James White (born in 1850 in King Township, York County) married Margaret Latchford (born July 50, 1856 in New York) September 17, 1877 in Alliston, Simcoe County. James and Margaret had six children. Rebecca White (born in 1853 in King Township, York County) married William Apperley (born July 31, 1850 in Vaughan Township, York County) January 30, 1872 in Toronto, York County. Rebecca died April 29, 1875 in Simcoe County. Elizabeth Ann White (born in 1857 in King Township, York County) married John Bruce (born in 1854 in Ireland) May 8, 1877 in Essa Township, Simcoe County. John and Elizabeth Ann had two children. |
