PRESIDENT’S
UPDATE
April 18/07
Bonnie here
again, ever try to get a president to write anything??
So much ahs
happened over the past year. We had applied to the CRTC for a power boost, but we
were turned down. Some had thought it was due to negative interventions from
the Canadian Association of Broadcasters and one of the local media outlets,
but that was not the case. In our technical brief, we had asked for 250 watts
to cover a large area around the city, with an increase in our tower height to
70 feet (we are currently at 20 feet). There was a miscommunication with the
CRTC, who denied our application, saying that we had asked for a decrease in
the height of our tower, and that we would never reached the areas we had
proposed. Once the CRTC rules, it’s final, but we firmly believe that God’s
hand is in this, and that we are supposed to improve our broadcast quality and
area in another way. We are working on that now, and will have updates as we
progress (promise!)
Don’t
forget our Family Fun Day, on the August Civic Holiday at the Founder’s Museum.
Those that attended last year had a great time, and there were a few
surprises-artists passing through who provided a great day of music and
ministry (plus John ‘s terrific corn on the cob!).
We are
planning a fundrasiing breakfast on Saturday, October 13th at
Central Free Church. Bob Beasley, form Words From the Heart, is tentatively
booked as our guest speaker. Make sure you mark your calendar now!
