FINNISH COFFEE BREAD
                    (also called Pulla or Lenki)

Recipe for 2 lb. breadmaker on Dough Setting.
[Works in our 1 1/2 lb. breadmaker as well.]
Put the ingredients in, in the order specified for your machine.

1 1/4 Cup warm milk
1 egg
2 Tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 Cups flour
1/2 Cup sugar
1/2 tsp crushed Cardamom
1 1/2 teaspoon yeast

When dough cycle completes, remove, divide in half and then split each
part into 3 equal pieces.  Roll into long strands [about 16 inches], and
braid strands into 2 loaves.  Let rise until doubled in size.  Bake at 375F
for 20-25 minutes (golden brown).  Immediately after taking them out of the
oven, brush tops with a mixture of sugar and water.  Cool on racks.
