Education

Education is an important part of our work at AIDS Thunder Bay. We work to provide accurate information, correct myths and misinformation, and give people the information they need to make informed choices about their behaviour. We also work to reduce stigma and discrimation around HIV/AIDS and related issues such as sexual orientation, sexual identity, substance use, and poverty.

We offer a number of educational services:

  • Workshops and presentations tailored to your needs
  • Targeted prevention program (Injection Drug Use Peer Outreach)
  • Information and counselling phone line (during regular office hours)
  • Resource library for reference use
  • Brochures and posters (including agency publications)
  • Harm reduction materials (condoms, lubricant, needle exchange site)
  • Social marketing and AIDS awareness campaigns
  • Training sessions for clients, volunteers, community partners

Community-based research is one of the ways we try to keep aware of changes in the community. Our Image Project helped us refocus our agency in the community. We are part of the Ontario Men's Survey which is providing needed information about HIV among gay and bisexual men.

Please feel free to contact us about workshops or presentations. We welcome questions, concerns, or suggestions you might have about our education services.
